TVET 4: aimed at youth integration into socio-economic fabric was launched by Ambassador EU Her Excellency Dr. Riina Koiinka along with Chairman KP-TEVTA Mr. Abdul Karim Khan- Advisor to the Chief Minister on Technical Education and Industries. The Secretary Industries, Technical Education and Commerce Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah at Center of Excellence (CoE) GTTTC, Hayatabad Peshawar received Guest of Honors with his welcome address emphasizing the need for improving quality of TVET, expanding it to food security system advance agriculture, water quality and conservation and emerging technologies to stay in step with demands of the labor market. Dr.Koiinka, in her inaugural speech, stressed upon the optimum output from this Socio-Economic investment for the future growth of the province. HE highlighted the need for training of female youth in unconventional trades/technologies along with consolidation of efforts for Teachers/Assessors professional development and review of the curriculum to meet needs of the evolving labor market. TVET 4 is considering establishment of more Centers of Excellence, workplace based training with involvement of the private sector, enabling TVET to strategize their efforts to intrude the future with success and imparting employable skills as priority areas of TVET 4.0.
Dr. Sebastian Paust, Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Germany, Pakistan stressed on the importance of employable skills with strategizing TVET actions toward attracting more domestic and foreign direct investment(FDI) , technology upgradation in geographically remote TVET institutions and building better green jobs through TVET.
Mr. Abdul Karim Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister on Industries and Technical Education avowed his commitment to TVET modernization through sustainable practices at TEVTA as well Institute level while adopting to modern technologies of training in TVET system. The Chairman TEVTA appreciated the efforts and generous support to TVET system for socio-economic growth of the province and stressed the need for responding to this continued technical assistance for funneling it to position KP-TEVTA to respond to the evolving needs of the modern labor market.
Mr.Aamir Afaq, Managing Director KP-TEVTA, in his closing remarks, thanked the administrative department for its relentless support to KP-TEVTA through the Chairman KP-TEVTA and Secretary Industries Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah. He termed the technical and financial support of the EU and the Government of Germany as a generous contribution to socio-economic growth of the province and appreciated the dedicated work by the implementing partners: GiZ and British Council Pakistan for aligning the interventions along the local needs and modern trends.
The event was attended by key officials from GiZ, British council, Director General NAVTTC Regional Office Peshawar, members of the Institute Management Committee of the GTTTC, officials from relevant administrative departments like Agriculture and fisheries, Higher Education, labor and Planning and Development (P&D), Chairman Board of Technical Education, Trade Testing Board, Directors of KP-TEVTA, Principals of the KP-TEVTA Institute in Peshawar.
