The Authority is responsible for overseeing and implementing technical education and vocational training programs. The primary goal of TEVTA is to provide technical education and vocational skills to youth of the province in order to meet market and industry demand. The establishment of TEVTA also aims at consolidation and promotion of technical education and vocational training system in the province by providing administrative and financial authority to the TEVT Sector for quick decision-making process. After establishment of KP-TEVTA in 2015, the Management framed KP-TEVTA’s vision, mission in line with the national goal as envisaged in National Skill Strategy.

History

Previously, the management of Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVTA) in the region was overseen by the Education Department through the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) until 2001. In 2002, a merger occurred, consolidating the Directorate of Technical Education and the Manpower Training Department into the Directorate of Technical Education & Manpower Training (DTE&MT), placed under the administrative jurisdiction of the Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education Department. The NWFP-TEVTA Ordinance 2002 was introduced during this period to transform DTE&MT into an agency. An Advisory Board, chaired by the Minister for Industries, was established to assess the establishment of TEVTA as an agency. However, the implementation of this Ordinance did not materialize. In 2007, the Directorate of Technical Education and Manpower underwent a name change, becoming the Directorate General of Technical Education & Manpower Training, retaining its responsibility until 2014. Subsequently, the Provincial Assembly passed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education & Vocational Authority Bill in February 2015, officially notifying it in the gazette in March 2015. Thus, KP-TEVTA as an Authority became operational since then.
